About Us

My love for spicy food started young. I vividly remember playing in my Grandma Mary and Papa Croom's garden as a boy. It was a vibrant place, teeming with rabbits and chickens, and dotted with lemon and avocado trees. The garden itself was bursting with collard greens, sugar cane, and Tabasco peppers. One day, my cousin and I were playing among the plants, and I dared her to try a Tabasco pepper. Her immediate screams brought the whole family—grandparents, aunts, and uncles—rushing out of the house with water, milk, and bread to soothe her.

That incident sparked something in me. From then on, I started asking for hot sauce and chili peppers with every meal, a common sight at our family table.

My twenty-five years as a truck driver, traveling from coast to coast and border to border, became a quest for the best and hottest hot sauces. I've sampled hundreds, some fantastic, some taste-bud-scorching, and some just plain bad. What I often found was that while many sauces brought the heat, they lacked depth. They overpowered food flavors instead of enhancing them, making it impossible to enjoy both the spice and the meal.

This realization pushed me to create my own "True Hot Sauce"—one that offered not just heat, but also flavor, personality, and fresh ingredients. Drawing on my extensive experience with diverse foods from my travels, I began experimenting with different flavor profiles. Soon, I was bringing my creations along with me, and family, friends, and colleagues were eager to try them, quickly asking for their own bottles.

That's how Tarros Hot Sauces came to be. We developed four distinct flavors: Sneaky Heat, Mango Reaper, We’re Just Playing, and Can You Handle It. My vision for Tarros Hot Sauces is to provide top-quality ingredients with no added salt or sugar. I want to deliver a heat that's enjoyable, with a robust flavor and body that elevates any dish without compromising its original taste.
